Frequently asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: When I put my CD-Book in the CD Reader the Launcher does not load.

A: It is possible that the AutoPlay feature of WIN95/98 has not been enabled on your computer. To enable this feature:
* Select Start > Settings > Control Panel
* Double click the System icon to open the System Properties Dialog
* Select the Device Manager Tab
* Expand the CD-ROM node (it is usually the one at the top of the list)
* Select the appropriate CD-ROM drive and click the Properties button
* Select the Settings Tab
* Check the box that says Auto insert notification
* Click OK to accept the change
* Reboot your system.

Q: When I launch my "Arctic Discovery" CD-Book and press "READ BOOK" button I get the message "Acrobat Reader not Found" even though I have just installed the Reader from the CD.

A: The problem occurs when various versions of ACROBAT READERS (or full ACROBAT EXCHANGE) have been installed on top of each other. The work-around is to launch ACROBAT READER from the Desk top and then open file START.PDF in the root folder of the CD.
To clear the problem from the machine it may be necessary to:
i) Uninstall all versions of Acrobat from the computer;
ii) Purge the Windows Registry (using NORTON's Genie) of all references to .PDF and Acrobat Readers (ACROREAD, ACRORD32, etc); and
iii) Re-install only one copy of ACROBAT READER.
Step (ii) is not for the faint of heart.

Q: I am reading Volumes 1 and 2 and like using short-cut keys as given in the Notes on the first page of every Chapter. However some short-cuts produce unexpected or no action.

A: ADOBE changed short-cut key assignments between Acrobat Reader Versions 3 and 4 as shown in the Table below. The Notes in Volumes 1 and 2 are valid for Acrobat Reader Version 3. To avoid confusion, short-cut key Notes do not appear in Volumes 3 or later.

Q: When I ZOOM-in on a Map or a Hi Resolution image I loose the "RETURN" button. How do I return to the book ?

A: (i) In Reader Version 3 Press CTRL+SHIFT+L or CTRL+J;
In Reader 4 Press CTRL+L or CTRL+0
or
(ii) Press ESC to return to the default READER Interface. Then on the Menu bar Press WINDOW > START.PDF - or - FILE > OPEN > START.PDF

Q: On my MAC when I press SEARCH button on the HOME page, search window flashes and disappears. Search operates correctly from any text page.
Why does this happen ?

A: This is a quirk of MAC OS and a particular version of ACROBAT REEADER that you may be using. WORK around is to hold down a mouse button on the SEARCH button, Press and hold down ESC key and release the mouse button.

Q: After I place my Volume 4 in the CD-Reader I get a message "File vb40032.dll" missing.
What does this mean ?

A: This file is used with Visual Basic scripting language and is normally loaded by Windows 95/98 installation. You can download it from HERE, or from the Microsoft site. Save it in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ folder.
